The Toowoomba Titans are our representative team. This year they will be playing in our own Clash of the Titans tournament, Dragons Chalice, and State Championships. More details will be published on the web site.
There have been a few changes to the draw that will affect Men's B Grade. Unfortunately a team had to withdraw from that division leaving us with only 3 teams. In order to avoid having too many byes, one of the 3 teams will play a double header each week. Please check the draw carefully.
The latest results are on the web site. Please check them as well. I have already had a couple of queries about results, and I know during the last couple of rounds I have had to forfeit teams for not entering team lists despite the multiple notices I have sent out regarding the consequences of not filling them out. Duty teams - do not start the game until both teams have filled out their team lists - this should have happen at the beginning of the warm up - not the end.
Teams are ranked by an Average Score, not the total score. We have been doing it this way for at least 10 years now as it allows us to be flexible regarding teams entering late or moving across divisions. I don't think it is a perfect system, but I have not come across a better one. I am always happy to hear about other possible solutions - but I can guarantee you that I will be less happy the week before finals - I'm pretty sure that's not too difficult to understand.
Reminder: Our AGM is on tonight - it will be at Harristown at 6:30pm. Our meeting had to be rescheduled due to a lack of numbers - please come along and show your support this week.
I will be away with work this week - Leanne Mitchell and Amy Brider will be looking after Tuesday night this week - please help them out as much as possible.
Our Pink Night's are on this week - can teachers and coaches please remind their players that we are running a bbq on both nights!
On Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th May Toowoomba Volleyball Association will be ‘pinking up’ as we take part in Breast Cancer Network Australia’s (BCNA) annual Pink Sports Day.
Toowoomba Volleyball Association will join hundreds of sporting groups nationwide to show our support for people in our local community who have been affected by breast cancer.
I have been running this PINK night for several years now, as, as many of you know, I went through the breast cancer ordeal myself back in 2011. Most of you will know some-one who has been through it so each year we do a fundraiser to support research and people going through this challenge.
On TVA is asking everyone to dress in PINK, buy a sausage at the sausage sizzle, buy raffle tickets, etc. Please note that you still need to have numbers on your shirt on Tuesday night.
On TVA is asking everyone to dress in PINK, buy a sausage at the sausage sizzle, buy raffle tickets, etc. There will be a prize for the best PINK team on Wednesday night.
There are pink socks, shoelaces, etc on the BCNA website and of course this supports the cause as well. If any teams have contacts with a business that would donate a raffle prize we would be very happy to hear about it. Please pass this on to all team members.
I will be keeping you informed as we get closer but in the meantime get your team together and see what you can come up with. The weirder the better!
Please remind your teams to fill out the score sheets properly - there were still teams that didn't fill them out properly.
Penalties do apply!
