Round 6 Draw
This is the last week before we have a 3 week break for the school holidays. There are only a few weeks left after the break before the semi finals and finals! Results should be up on the website on the weekend.
Most of you will know that we are more than happy to let you use players from lower divisions to avoid a forfeit during the regular season. There are 2 points I think need to be made very clear - this is only to avoid a forfeit, so there shouldn't be any time where a player from another team is on the court where there are already 6 players on the court. This also applies to players who have a bye - they should not be playing for another team unless it is to avoid a forfeit. Please do the right thing so I don't have to start forfeiting teams.
On a topic not related to volleyball, but important all the same - there is a free event on at the Harristown Auditorium next Tuesday - it is a motivational talk about suicide prevention and drug awareness. Having personally been affected by this very topic this week I thought it worth passing on to our volleyball community. Please share it around - it is a very real problem in our society.
The rest of the regular season draws are up on the website. I will continue to email each weeks draw out in case there are any changes that need to be made.
I have tried to give teams within the same division the same number of duties, in a couple of divisions this has meant that some teams have had to do duty 3 weeks in a row - this is obviously not ideal, but it was the best I could manage.
If you have asked me for a draw consideration please check the draws and let me know if there is a problem as soon as possible! The earlier I can make the change, the more likely it is I will be able to keep byes and duties balanced.
I know some of you are concerned with having the duty team being from the same school as your opposition - I do understand this concern, but in most divisions it just isn't possible to avoid this situation. In quite a lot of our divisions, the coach/teacher from a particular school will have more than one team to look after - in which case my preference is for them to have the duty team and playing team on the same court, so they can look after both teams at the same time. I realise this is not perfect, but I'm sure if you take a few minutes to imagine how you would deal with having 2 teams to look after, you will be a bit more understanding. When it comes to the finals, I usually try and avoid this, but it is not always possible.
There is a warm up protocol on every score bench that dictates exactly how the warm up is to be run. Teams should be starting their general warm up as soon as the previous match is finished. There are far to many teams that are not ready to start when the previous match is finishing - having duty is not an excuse - if you are on duty then you should be dressed and ready to play as soon as the game finishes. Only 1 or 2 people are needed to finish off the score sheet, so there is no need for 6 people to be standing on the side of the court while the warm up time is running.
Every referee should bring their own whistle!
It is NOT POSSIBLE for us to prevent the transmission of colds and flu's through the use of whistles, so if you don't want to get infected from somebody else using the same whistle you should bring your own! TVA will try and have whistles available to buy for $5 each, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to have stock available.
We HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring your own whistle.
Round 04 Draw
Please check the draw carefully - there are quite a few teams that have duty on a different court.
I hope everyone has paid by now - the early payment discount stops on Tuesday.
The rest of the season draw is nearly done - hopefully it will be up this week. This is your last chance to let me know about any school camps or award nights so I can allow for them in the draw.
Results will be up after this week.
Congratulations to our Titans girls who took out the Bronze medal for Div 2 today. A great effort beating Norths 3-0 in their best performance of the season.
PVL Bronze Medal Match
Our Titans are playing in the Div 2 Bronze Medal match in Brisbane on Sunday morning at 9:00am at The Gap. It would be great to see some supporters make it down to cheer the girls on.
I am working on the draw, it should be up on the website on the weekend.
If you want to pay next week you will need to bring $90 as the discount period is ending next Tuesday (30th Aug).
Make your online payment before next Tuesday to get the discount.

There are some major changes to the draw for this week.
Women's A Grade - all matches and duties have changed!
Donwlands Jules - you have a duty on Court 5 at 5:40pm.
CLC OG vs STK is now at 4:40pm in the yellow gym - Bluehawks 10G have the duty.
Hawks 8B vs CLC Boys 1 is now at 5:40pm - TGS 1 you have the duty.
Everyone else - please double check the draw.
Believe it or not, I am trying to put out a draw for the remainder of the season.
Please check if your teams are going to be away for any reason - I can organise byes if I know early enough!
I am hoping to get the season draw out next week, but no promises!
Round 03 Draw
A couple of teams pulled out this week, so there are more changes being made to where divisions are playing etc...
Women's A Reserve will now play the 2nd game in the yellow gym, not the green. Please check the draw carefully to see if you have duty on a different court.
This is the last week to get the $20 discount - fees will increase to $90 next week. This does not apply to school teams.
There is a warm up protocol located on every score bench - all teams should be using it.
It is also the responsibility of the duty team to make sure team lists are filled out before the match starts. This should not be a difficult task. It is an instant forfeit if you don't write down your team list.
