Congratulations to the Titan’s Men for capturing Bronze over the weekend. The final match for the medal was an emphatic win 3-0 over Sunny Coast. The Gold and Silver went to Dragons and JRCS respectively. Well done also to our Terry Moore for getting MVP of the division! Some Titans players were also playing in the U19 Qld teams ….

In the Women’s division both of our teams Opens and U19s were beaten in their Bronze medal matches to get 4ths. A great result for our A team which played the tournament basically with just 6 players, and an excellent result for the U19s with there first outing in a competition. In fact this was the debut performance of Women’s U19s for TVA!

Congratulations to all the TVA players !!! Next stop is possibly TVA’s tournament “Clash of the Titans” hopefully to be played in conjunction with our Youth Challenge Tournament in July.

Congratulations to both the QSSV U17 boys and girls in winning Golds in NZ (other teams involved were NSW, NZ North Island and NZ South Island). This is also made extra special by the Australian combined team (boys) [7 Qld and 3 NSW] beating the combined NZ team in 5 sets…. rarely done as they are really an U18 team. TVA can be especially proud as one of our sons, (only 1 DD rep selected), Grant Norman, not only captained the Qld side, but also captained the “Aus” team. Whilst the Aus girls performed very well, they went down in a close contest to the NZ side in 5 sets. http://www.volleyballnz.org.nz/index.php?id=142

Well the dates have been set… First muster for both the Tuesday Premier Leagues (both genders, separately) and the Wednesday Mixed Social Business League will be on Tuesday 27 February 7-8.30pm at Harristown High. There is also a second muster the following Tuesday (same times) where players can get into teams and teams and clubs can be nominated ready for the start of the season [first matches 13 March] . All skill levels welcome !!

There is also a “Come & Try” fun tournament where those building teams can get their friends along to have a go (free with BBQ lunch included). This is held on Sunday 4 March at Harristown High starting at 11am (10.30am registrations open) and going through to about 3.30pm. A great day, full of fun games and prizes…!!

A great two day tournament !! The finals for the Gold Medals were between -
(Men) Hawks 1 (coach Mark Norman) defeating QSSV U16s (coach Rohan Young) (3-1) and
(Women) McGregor (coach Brad Cotton) defeating Concordia (coach Mitch Wormald) (3-1)
Also, The Gap 1 (absent coach David Kuchler) beat Hawks 2 (Coach Tony Parsons, absent coach Greg Gall) for Bronze in the men and
Lofty (coach Gillian Fulton) beat Hawks (absent coach Kate Stewart) for Bronze in the women. ….. A great showing by Harristown SHS. (Note the absent coaches were tied up with the State Champ event in Beenliegh!)

A huge thanks to the Tournament Director, Mark Phythian with assistance from Mark Norman and Keith Finlayson (for financials and BBQ), and of course the Tournament organiser Cheryl Norman, TVA’s GM.

The Match schedule for the tournament has been released….

(Canteen facilities are provided…)

A Qld Sport & Rec initiative with TVA has resulted in a fun Beach Volleyball Day at the showgrounds. Thursday is allocated to the TVA members that are keen for a knock to give some public exposure. A free sausage sizzle is included for participants and we’ll be encouraging members of the public to join in in a 4-a-side fun comp. The pros amongst us will also have a chance to play some matches (pairs)… TVA members involved will get free entry to the show gounds (special pass).

Come & join us and have a fun day …… what other boring thing would you do on Show Day anyway !???!

Time : 11am – 3pm

If interested in being a part of the fun day please let Mark or Cheryl know…… All are welcome (individuals and 4 person teams)!
