Election of the 2008 Executive Committee will take place on the Tuesday evening mentioned above (between matches). For expediency and efficiency of the meeting nominations for positions must be received prior to the day of the AGM so that the meeting can be used for either appointment or voting. The normal reports will also be made public at this meeting.

So if you feel you would like to contribute to the running of local volleyball, or be part of the community building within TVA, then please put your name forward for nomination (with a seconder…)

All existing committee positions (10) are to be voted on. Nominations and proxies will be accepted up to 25th March. For any Exec positions having only one nomination, appointment will be automatic without any voting. Positions with more than one nomination, a vote by members (2006/7) will be taken. For positions without any nominations submitted prior to the deadline, nominations will be taken from the floor and dealt with accordingly (ie: only one nomination => appointed, more than one nomination => vote). Nominees for the senior positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer should have previous experience on the TVA Executive Committee. Other portfolios include – Registrar, PRO, Rep Squad Coordinator, Refereeing and Coaching Coordinators, Webmaster, Events and 6-Pak Manager.

If you would like to contribute your time to Volleyball and the Association, please nominate and attend. Come and vote to have your voice in how the TVA runs.

Junior Titans Camp Poster

As the season kicks off and the Darling Downs Selections for rep teams approach, the TVA has decided to run a one day training camp for young volleyballers in the High School age groups. Darling Downs selectors will pop in to observe the talent in action while our experienced local coaches put the candidates through their paces.

Technical skills will be developed and honed, team tactics covered with plenty of game time to improve team play and positions. TVA selectors will also be identifying those suitable to join the Junior Titans training squads to represent Toowoomba. More details to follow ….

Well the dates have been set… First muster for both the Tuesday Premier Leagues (both genders, separately) and the Wednesday Mixed Social Business League will be on Tuesday 27 February 7-8.30pm at Harristown High. There is also a second muster the following Tuesday (same times) where players can get into teams and teams and clubs can be nominated ready for the start of the season [first matches 13 March] . All skill levels welcome !!

There is also a “Come & Try” fun tournament where those building teams can get their friends along to have a go (free with BBQ lunch included). This is held on Sunday 4 March at Harristown High starting at 11am (10.30am registrations open) and going through to about 3.30pm. A great day, full of fun games and prizes…!!

The grand finale of the season has been organised to be on Saturday 25 November at Sunset Superbowl (see poster). Tickets are now available from the duty officers and Greg Auchter. Unlike in the past, tickets MUST be bought and paid by 17 November to be able to attend. With a buffet dinner and a round of bowling included, looks to be a fantastic evening with plenty of fun. These just keep getting better..!!!

Musters for the new season are on Tuesdays 25th July and 1st August. These cover all leagues, and are run at Harristown State High from 7-8.30pm. So come and check it out !!

In addition there is the regular pre-season “COME & TRY” Fun Tournament on Sunday 30th July. Starting time 10am going through to about 4pm. Heaps of fun with even fun prizes happening throughout. The venue is Harristown SHS. This is FREE and includes a lunchtime BBQ.!! Just come along and you’ll get plenty of play mixing into different teams for each short game.

So here are great opportunities to have a go, bring along some friends, enter a team or come looking for a team. All strengths are catered for from mixed B-Grade social (run Wednesday evenings) up to A-Grade (gender specific) Premier Leagues (run Tuesday evenings).

In line with the requirement of having the TVA AGM before the QVA AGM which is on Sat the 25 Mar, TVA’s AGM is scheduled for the 22nd Mar amidst the second week of the Business League comp. The format will focus on the election of Executive members with any other topics raised to be carried forward to the first Executive meeting for debate.

Those members that are not available for re-election are Michael Gall and Geoff Orton. The senior positions (President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) may only be filled by elected members that have at least one year’s experience on the TVA Executive. In total there are 9 positions to fill. So make sure you vote for a responsible candidate to look after your Association’s interests.
