S2 2010 – R5 Draw

Apologies for the mixup’s with the draw last week – hopefully getting the draw out earlier from now on will avoid any repeats.

Once we get to the holiday break, there should be a draw available for the remaining rounds up until the finals. The results table should also be available after the break.

The discount period is now over, those people that haven’t paid yet need to do so before the break.  If you haven’t handed in a registration form so far this year, or you haven’t paid your Season 2 fees, you will be unable to take to the court following the break.

While most teams are making an effort to fill out the score sheets properly, there are still a few teams who need to improve.

The A Grade men were defeated last Friday night and will now play for the Men’s A Grade Bronze medal on Friday night at Boondall.

The Reserve Grade men and Reserve Grade Women will both play for the gold medal in their respective divisions.

Go the Titans!

TVA will be holding a Referee’s Course on the 9th October.

The cost is only $10!

Oops, did it again… There is a typo for the Women’s A Grade game on Court 5.
The game between Hawks W1 and USQ Emus is to be played at 6:30pm, not 8:00pm.

Downlands 4 are forfeiting their game at 5:00 on Court 7.
Club G5 won’t have a game at that time.
St Saviours 3 will now have a duty on Court 7 at 6pm.

It’s a bit late this week – but hopefully our divisions have finalised  and I can get a longer draw out next week.

Don’t forget to fill out the MVP section on the score sheet.

Men’s A Grade

The Toowoomba Titans A-grade Men’s team suffered a crucial minor final loss on Friday Night against second ranked University of Queensland at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. The Titans who finished on top of the ladder played an experienced UQ team. The game was very tense and close throughout the entire match with the Titans winning the first set followed by UQ winning the second. The Titans came back winning the third and looked like they had the match in the fourth with a lead towards the end of the set, however, outside hitter Jeff Russell suffered severe leg cramps and had no choice but to be substituted. The change put the Titans under pressure and were unable finish the set letting UQ come back to win the fourth. The Titans inexperience in finals playoff games saw them lose composure in the fifth and final set, allowing the experienced UQ team to win comfortably and go into the Gold Medal match in two weeks for the sixth time in six years.

The loss however is not it for the Titans, they will get another chance to get back into the grand final as they play the Brisbane Dragons this Friday night at Redlands. The Titans are 1 – 1 against the Dragons Club this season. The Titans are extremely hungry for the first grand final opportunity for Toowoomba in Premier League history. They hope to use the valuable experience gained in their recent loss to defeat Dragons.

Men’s Reserve Grade

Reserve Titans Men also had a loss in a close encounter with top of the ladder University of Queensland losing 3-2. The loss placed them in a similar situation as the A-grade men with a second chance this Friday night to getting a grand final chance.

Women’s A Grade

The Toowoomba Reserve women’s team played their final round match against Norths on Sunday at Harristown SHS. The women played extremely well, defeating Norths comfortably 3-0. The women now get a week off before they play their Grand Final match in two weeks.

2010 S2 – Round 3 Draw

We had 2 new teams join this week, with the possibility of a 3rd, so we’ve had to expand into the Green Gym.
At present it will be Women’s C Grade starting in the Green Gym at 5:00pm.

Score Sheets

  • Duty teams must fill out the Totals section + the MVP section of the score sheet.
  • Less than a third of duty teams filled these out last week. This means that 14 teams would have received penalties for incorrect score sheets.
  • Unless there is a huge improvement this week – penalties will be applied starting next week.
  • Team lists should be entered as first initial  then last name. If there are 2 people in your club with the same name please differentiate them.
eg: J. Doe – not John.   John Doe is of course acceptable.
  • Team lists should be filled out fully before the start of the match.
  • If a team does not enter their team list it will be considered a forfeit.

Team Lists

Please make sure I have received your team lists.
I will be sending out invoices to the school teams very soon.

The Women’s A Grade game between TVC Heat and Club G1; Gatton W doing duty, will start at 6:30pm NOT 8:00pm.
