I have done the draw for the remaining weeks of the regular season.

Rounds 05 to 11 (S2)

The gaps in the draw for weeks 9, 10 and 11 are for the Women’s B Grade cross over matches.
They will be filled in after week 8.

If you find any inconsistencies, please let me know as soon as possible.
If you haven’t sent me updated team lists, then this is the week to do so.

Duty teams were much better this week, with only a couple of teams not filling them out fully.

No MVP – Saints
No Results – SSC 4
M2 – No Duty Team

The draw for round 4 is now available.

PL Draw – Round 4

There are a couple of teams who let me know late in the week that they wouldn’t be able to make it this week. I appreciate that they didn’t wait until Monday to let me know, but could we all please take some time to look at the calendar to see if there is anything coming up that will affect your teams.

Valuables
During the last 2 weeks we have had a smart phone and a wallet stolen.
There is a reward being offered for the return of these items.
Can everyone pay extra attention to where they leave their valuables, and please report any suspicious behaviour to the Duty Officer or Caretaker. It is extremely disappointing to think that someone involved in our sport would take advantage of their fellow players in this manner.

Duty Officer
Joe Webb will be filling in for me for the rest of the season as I won’t be available until later in the night.
Please give him your patience and assistance as he becomes familiar with the role – particularly at 6:40pm when there are 5 nets to be changed. I will still be looking after the draw and score sheets.

Score Sheets
The score sheets were filled out better as a whole, but there are still a few teams who don’t seem to realise that not filling out the score sheet correctly could cost them a place in the finals! There is a checklist on the score sheet that tells you what must be completed.

No MVP – Downlands Gold (W),
No Team List – TCC Chicks (SSC3 duty)
No Results Section – Downlands Blue (W), Downlands Red (M), St Ursulas 1, Fairholme 3b

The Business League Draw for the remainder of the season is available now.

Bus League 2011 – Season 2

Here is this week’s draw – a couple of teams have 2 duties in a row but it will all even out in the end. The full season draw will be out by Wed. Any new teams or players can still get the discount if they pay this week.

Draw for Round 3

Sorry for the lateness of the draw, I was really hoping it would be an easier one this week… but it wasn’t.

Next week’s is 90% complete, and should be out on Wednesday, provided there are no more changes to the teams. If you know your team is going to be away at some time during the season – please let me know ASAP! If you let me know more than 1 week before, then I will try to arrange a bye.

Early Payment

The early payment discount finishes this week – next week will be $80 instead of $60.
Schools – I will be doing up invoices for the school teams as soon as I can – so school teams need to have your team lists updated and sent to me ASAP.

Women’s B Grade.

I have split the 15 team division into 2 pools (8+7).  There will be round robin matches within each pool. After a round of pool games, the top half of teams from both pools will then form Womens B, and the bottom half will form Women’s B Reserve. The result will be 2 divisions – and 2 lots of trophies.

Duties

This season you will very likely have to do a duty for another Division.  We have a lot of teams that have not done a lot of  duties before, as well as many coaches that are having to manage multiple teams across the venue – so please be patient and offer your assistance, not your criticism. Please check the draw carefully – I have tried to keep your duty in the same gym as your game – but this is not guaranteed!  I have added a link to a powerpoint file that shows how to score a volleyball match. The scoresheet looks different to ours, but the method of scoring is exactly the same.

How to fill out the Scoresheet

I am making every effort to keep the number of duties as even as possible within each division. Most of the season you will only have a duty every 2nd week – but there will be at least once or twice during the season when you will have duty 2 weeks in a row. If you are concerned, please talk to me about it – there are a lot of teams and I may simply have overlooked your team.

As there are quite a few teams that haven’t played or done duty before, penalties for score sheets will not be applied this week.
I will not be as generous this week.

No MVP – Club G2, Club G4, St Ursulas 3, TVC Heat, TCC Chicks, Club G5, TCC Blokes, Concordia M, Fairholme 4a
No Team List – Downlands Red M (TVC Heat duty)
No Results Table – Club G5, St Ursulas 5, Downlands Jnr 1, SSC 3

This week’s draw for Business League

7pm Ct 1    Snap v SFU (Shake & Bake)
Ct 2    Dark Side v White Lotus (Deviations)
Ct 3    Not Impressed v Titanics (Spikedelic)
Ct 4    Mixed Nuts v Wannabes (Fish n Bits)
Ct 5    Flying Aces v Lemmings (Soup a Stars)

8pm    Ct 1    Stars n Stripes v Chockers (Snap)
Ct 2    Deviations v SuperNova (SFU)
Ct3    Spikedelic v Shake & Bake (Titanics)
Ct 4    Fish n Bits v Soup a Stars (Flying Aces)

There are a couple of new teams doing duty this week so Cheryl if you’re not sure about the scoring procedure – refs are provided. Don’t forget money must be paid this week to get the discount – from next week it will be $80 ($60 for students).

Welcome to all teams to a new season for Toowoomba Volleyball. We are looking at record numbers of teams this season – we’re up to 56 teams already!
Score Sheets
We have introduced a few more penalties for not filling out score sheets correctly. The standard has been slipping over the past couple of seasons, so we’re asking duty teams to make more of an effort to fill them out correctly. If you don’t know how – please ask.
Time Management
Your match time starts as soon as the previous match is finished. The warm up protocol is one of the first items in the Playing Rules – please become familiar with it.  There is only 1 minute allotted for the time between sets, so coaches need to be prepared with rotation sheets at the changeover. There is only 1 hour for most games, so we really want to maximize the playing time for everyone involved.
Uniforms
A Grade teams must have a common uniform with numbers on it by the 3rd week. Duty teams should make a note of the number of players out of uniform on the back of the score sheet. Please let me know if you have arranged uniforms, but they haven’t arrived by the 3rd week.
Forfeits
If your team cannot make it for your match and/or duty – please let me know A.S.A.P. I will make exceptions regarding player eligibility during the regular season to enable matches to take place, so please check with me first. If you have school camps or other upcoming events that will affect your team – please let me know before the day of the match. It is very frustrating to hear that a team can’t play because they are away on camp – these things don’t happen on short notice.
The Draw and Results
The Draw and Results will be up on the website as soon as I can manage it (usually late on the Wednesday after the game). A draw for most of the season should go out after the first few weeks.  Please check the results – particularly for penalties and errors. I won’t be changing results if you come to me in the week before the finals and tell me there is an error from 4 weeks ago.
The Finals
As usual, the medal matches will be decided by the top four teams, who will play off in the semi finals as 1vs4 and 2vs3 with the 2 winners competing for the Gold medal and the other 2 playing for Bronze.
All other positions will be played for on the semi finals night, with only medal matches happening during the final night.
Men’s A Reserve
We have 9 teams this season, so at the end of the season we will have a separate finals series for the junior teams. At this stage, the normal season will remain as one large pool – but this is still under consideration.
Net Changes
Due to the large number of teams this season, we will be requiring assistance from duty teams to help change the net heights. This will involve all of the A Grade teams as well as Men’s A Reserve (5 courts at the same time). At an absolute minimum, once the net has been raised and tied off, could the duty teams please help by placing the pads back on the posts.
Good luck to all team’s this season, please let me know if you are having any problems, or even if you have some ideas on how we can improve the competition.

And now we will actually put it on the website!   Round 1.S2.2011

I can be contacted at treasurer@tva.org.au or in an emergency on o416190949

Apologies for the late delivery – next week will be much better… promise!

We have 50 teams already and a few more confirming during this week!
Men’s A Reserve has grown to 9 teams, and Women’s B has 12 teams in it!

I would like to move a team or 2 out of Women’s B Grade into Women’s Reserve Grade.
If you can help me out with that, it would be great.
