Divisional Standings table
Note: Women’s A grade pending (some missing scoresheets..)

Congratulations to the Titan’s Men for capturing Bronze over the weekend. The final match for the medal was an emphatic win 3-0 over Sunny Coast. The Gold and Silver went to Dragons and JRCS respectively. Well done also to our Terry Moore for getting MVP of the division! Some Titans players were also playing in the U19 Qld teams ….

In the Women’s division both of our teams Opens and U19s were beaten in their Bronze medal matches to get 4ths. A great result for our A team which played the tournament basically with just 6 players, and an excellent result for the U19s with there first outing in a competition. In fact this was the debut performance of Women’s U19s for TVA!

Congratulations to all the TVA players !!! Next stop is possibly TVA’s tournament “Clash of the Titans” hopefully to be played in conjunction with our Youth Challenge Tournament in July.

Well an exciting Finals round for the Women’s C grade displayed the enthusiasm and team spirit typical of players that are absolutely revelling in their sport of volleyball. In the semi’s St Saviours 3 got past St Saviours 4 in the 2-3 playoff (3-0), whilst Glennie 4 upset Fairholme 2 in the 4-1 match in a tight affair (2-1, 27-25, 26-24, 25-17) to get the Gold finals berth. In the Gold Medal match Glennie took the early lead with the first set (25-20) which then sparked a St Saviours response in the second (25-18). Locked at a set each the third set was a close one going 25-22 in Glennie’s favour. St Saviours tried to hold on in the 4th but could not deny a bouyant Glennie 4 team who ran out (25-13) to take the 3-1 victory and Gold. Congratulations to the girls !
This result (and others pending in other grades) is testament to the extra training and effort made at both Glennie and St Saviours this year which includes a training alliance between the schools set up by their teachers (/coaches) Crystal Green (Glennie) and Kate Russell (St Saviours) both of whom play for the Toowoomba Titans A Rep team.

It seems the first attempt at publishing this on the web was a failure … so a second try…

Congratulations to both the QSSV U17 boys and girls in winning Golds in NZ (other teams involved were NSW, NZ North Island and NZ South Island). This is also made extra special by the Australian combined team (boys) [7 Qld and 3 NSW] beating the combined NZ team in 5 sets…. rarely done as they are really an U18 team. TVA can be especially proud as one of our sons, (only 1 DD rep selected), Grant Norman, not only captained the Qld side, but also captained the “Aus” team. Whilst the Aus girls performed very well, they went down in a close contest to the NZ side in 5 sets. http://www.volleyballnz.org.nz/index.php?id=142

Well volleyball is indeed alive and well…. especially amongst the schools !! The first round went off with some good matches – while most will not count towards premiership points as they were grading matches… But some results make interesting reading……
