Welcome to all teams to a new season for Toowoomba Volleyball. We are looking at record numbers of teams this season – we’re up to 56 teams already!
Score Sheets
We have introduced a few more penalties for not filling out score sheets correctly. The standard has been slipping over the past couple of seasons, so we’re asking duty teams to make more of an effort to fill them out correctly. If you don’t know how – please ask.
Time Management
Your match time starts as soon as the previous match is finished. The warm up protocol is one of the first items in the Playing Rules – please become familiar with it. There is only 1 minute allotted for the time between sets, so coaches need to be prepared with rotation sheets at the changeover. There is only 1 hour for most games, so we really want to maximize the playing time for everyone involved.
Uniforms
A Grade teams must have a common uniform with numbers on it by the 3rd week. Duty teams should make a note of the number of players out of uniform on the back of the score sheet. Please let me know if you have arranged uniforms, but they haven’t arrived by the 3rd week.
Forfeits
If your team cannot make it for your match and/or duty – please let me know A.S.A.P. I will make exceptions regarding player eligibility during the regular season to enable matches to take place, so please check with me first. If you have school camps or other upcoming events that will affect your team – please let me know before the day of the match. It is very frustrating to hear that a team can’t play because they are away on camp – these things don’t happen on short notice.
The Draw and Results
The Draw and Results will be up on the website as soon as I can manage it (usually late on the Wednesday after the game). A draw for most of the season should go out after the first few weeks. Please check the results – particularly for penalties and errors. I won’t be changing results if you come to me in the week before the finals and tell me there is an error from 4 weeks ago.
The Finals
As usual, the medal matches will be decided by the top four teams, who will play off in the semi finals as 1vs4 and 2vs3 with the 2 winners competing for the Gold medal and the other 2 playing for Bronze.
All other positions will be played for on the semi finals night, with only medal matches happening during the final night.
Men’s A Reserve
We have 9 teams this season, so at the end of the season we will have a separate finals series for the junior teams. At this stage, the normal season will remain as one large pool – but this is still under consideration.
Net Changes
Due to the large number of teams this season, we will be requiring assistance from duty teams to help change the net heights. This will involve all of the A Grade teams as well as Men’s A Reserve (5 courts at the same time). At an absolute minimum, once the net has been raised and tied off, could the duty teams please help by placing the pads back on the posts.
Good luck to all team’s this season, please let me know if you are having any problems, or even if you have some ideas on how we can improve the competition.
