Premier League Results – Round 11 S1 2010

Men’s A Grade
Toowoomba Titans finish the first round of the Queensland Premier Volleyball League undefeated, sitting on top of the ladder with a 6-0 record. The Titans were too strong for bottom of the ladder team Redlands Volleyball Club on Sunday. The Titans dominated game play and cruised to a 3-0 victory. The Titans will also lose 208cm middle Travis Passier as he makes a move to Canberra in preparation to join the Australian training squad. In a double blow, more bad news when Titans 203cm middle Stephen Ellis rolled his ankle during the match, placing him on the sidelines for the next 4 weeks.

Men’s Reserve Grade
After a great start to the match winning the first two sets, the Titans lost focus and communication broke down allowing Redlands to come back and win the next three sets and the match 3-2

Women’s Reserve Grade
The Women’s Reserve Grade team played against the Dragons at the Boondall Entertainment Centre on Friday night, winning in 4 sets (3-1).

Men’s A Grade have a bye this week, Reserve Men are playing against Dragons 2 and Reserve Women are playing against Brisbane Volleyball Club – both are playing at Boomdall.

Men’s A Grade
Toowoomba Titans winning streak continues to five in a row, with a convincing 3–0 over Easts Volleyball Club at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. The Titans have been working hard on blocking at training and Coach Greg Gall was extremely pleased with his team as they completely denied Easts attack with a dominating blocking performance. The Titans will lose setter Brett Alderman as he travels to Canberra to begin training at the Australian Institute of Sport in preparation to the Australian team selections later this month. With only one more game to complete the first round of the season, the Titans although still a long way to the finals are growing confidence and are determined to hold onto their top of the Premier League position.

Men’s Reserve Grade
The Titan’s Reserve Men played the top of the table clash against Easts Volleyball Club, with a strong 3-0 win which places them on top of the ladder.

This is the best start to the Premier Volleyball League in the Toowoomba Titans history, with the Titans sitting alone on top of the PVL standings with a 4-0 record. The Titans have been enhanced with the recent return of Travis Passier and Brett Alderman. Men’s A Grade
Another fantastic win for the A-grade men this time against University Queensland.  The Titan’s won the first set comfortably, but UQ came back strongly in the second set. It looked like the Titans were about to drop the second set being down 24-20, but they fought back to win the set 26-24.  After dropping the third set 25 -19, the Titans looked to the bench for fresh players and thereby up the intensity, which they did and the Titans comfortably won the fourth 25-22.  A fantastic win over a team whom the Titans have really struggled against in previous years. Coach Greg Gall was very happy with the win and contributed its win to the depth of players he has this year in the side.

Men’s Reserve Grade
The Titans Reserve Men won against University Queensland 3-1

Women’s Reserve Grade
The Women’s Reserve Grade team was pushed to another five set match against Norths Volleyball Club in a close encounter, Titans the eventually winners 3-2.

Round four matches will be at away at Boondall Friday 7th May.
