You have less than a week to get your teams in – hopefully you should be ready to put them straight in.  We will try and get a draw up on Monday – at which point you won’t be able to create a team yourself.  Please get in touch if you want to create a team after the first draw is released.

There have been a few changes to the MyTeam website – particularly for using it on phones.

I have been rushed, so I haven’t had a chance to test it on different browsers – so if something doesn’t look right, please let me know.  Once the season starts it will look up your game and duty times and display them clearly.  You can use the drop down in the top left (on mobile phones) to get to the draw and results pages. If in doubt – the TVA logo at the top will bring you back to the home page for MyTeam.

I have finally added the ability to do credit card payments using Stripe.  Stripe are one of the largest online payment processing provider’s and have spent a lot of time and effort protecting their payment systems.  Our systems do not have access to any of the credit card information you provide, so it would be very difficult for a 3rd party to get access.  We have trialled it with Volley Fours and Clash of the Titans earlier in the year and had no issues.

Fee’s and payments are now being handled automatically when you Create a Team, or when you Join a Team – and rely on being able to identify you within the database – which is why it is important to provide email addresses for the players in your team. I recommend that you create your team and then let your team mates know they can join on the MyTeam page – when a player chooses to Join a Team, it will automatically add their details to the team.

It is necessary for all players to sign up on the MyTeam page.  This will ensure you are covered by insurance, and also make sure you aren’t charged for the VQ registration more than once per year.

There are no part payments available for the online payments – if you have been mistakenly charged for the Registration fee, you need to contact us so that we can check on it, and remove it if needed.

More information will come out soon regarding Covid requirements.

After a long Covid challenged season our Wednesday Night Business League has come to an end with finals being played on Wednesday 11th November. A sausage sizzle was supplied free by the TVA, as a Presentation Night with Covid constraints seemed impossible to organise. As always the atmosphere was that of fun and great sportsmanship by both winners and losers. It was wonderful to see the number of teams who hung around to the end for the presentations, despite Origin being on the same night.  Final results were:
A grade – Gold – Tipsies
Silver – Rolling Thunder
Bronze – Unexpected Sets
B grade – Gold – Smackin’ Aces
Silver – 50 Shades of Blue
Bronze – MashUps
C grade – Gold – Spike Tyson
Silver – Darling Downs Christian College 2
Bronze – Sugar n Spike

Congratulations to all these teams and to individual award winners:
A grade – MVP   Brooke Ronan
Most Improved    Amy Williams
B grade – MVP   Jacquie Jones
Most Improved    Linda Glossop
C grade – MVP    James Brennan
Most Improved    Amy Humphrey

Our inaugural Nathan DeCourcy Shining Light Award was also presented in memory of this valued member of our volleyball family. His whole family were present to say a few words about Nathan’s love of volleyball and then to present the award to our first winner –  Thomas Brennan from Sugar n Spike who was chosen over 6 other worthy nominees. He was extremely honoured to win this in his first season of volleyball and was described by his team as bringing endless joy and humour, positivity and fun, a shining rainbow light. A fitting tribute indeed to Nathan’s memory.

Thank you everyone for a great season, despite Covid !!!

As many of you already know a much loved and valued member of our volleyball community, Nathan DeCourcy, recently lost his life in a car accident. Nathan played in our Wednesday Business League competition in the Beard of Bees A grade team. He also offered to help out with refereeing on a regular basis. He was a regular at all USQ trainings and competitions. Basically he just loved to play volleyball any time or day. He was always bubbly, encouraging to teammates and ready to carry out extra duties when needed.

In recognition of his vibrant, colourful presence, Toowoomba Volleyball is introducing a new annual award for the Wednesday night competition which will be known as the Nathan DeCourcy Shining Light award. It will be presented to someone with these same vital, uplifting qualities, as nominated by team captains at the end of the year.

TVA will also be donating, on behalf of all players an amount to a cause close to his heart, Headspace, in lieu of flowers at his funeral.

RIP Nathan. We will all miss you!
