The draw for this week is available to download.
Downlands have a huge 12 teams in the competition this season, but unfortunately they cannot make it this week, so the draw is a lot smaller as a result!
The draw can also be seen on the Premier League Draw page. (So can the Business League Draw.) Last week it required you to be logged in, and when you were logged in, it looked pretty ordinary on a mobile phone. This has been fixed now and it would be great if people could check it out and let me know if your phone has a problem displaying the draw. Hint: Swiping left and right can change the current round and the currently displayed court.
This Monday night is the last time you can pay the ‘Early Payment’, after Tuesday it will the Regular Payment – which is $70 for adults ($100 for both nights). If you didn’t play in Season 1, then you will also need to pay the VQ Registration fee (an extra $40).
I have switched the MyTeam website so you can add yourself to your team. Team captains can you please ask all of your team to sign up to the MyTeam website, this is for both registration (insurance) and electronic scoring. If they are already registered, then ask them to Join your team, if you haven’t added them already. It will become a requirement to play in the future, so everyone needs to sign up AND register. Please let me know if you are having trouble registering – the Contact form at the bottom of the website works well.
At the moment, joining a team may create duplicates which you can just ignore for the moment. One of the reason’s for this is that we are have to protect personal information so I have been trying to make sure we don’t leak that information to people who are not registered or who have just signed up and are not known to you. This creates some issues where the team ‘owner’ doesn’t know everyone’s email addresses. The email address is how we uniquely identify you on the system. I have some ideas on this, but in the short term it may produce some issues such as duplicates.
I am also putting those team lists onto tablets for scoring – yes, I am still trying to get this happening! This means you can’t just delete players as there may be a record of them taking the court in a match. Again, I have ways to deal with this, but in the first instance I would like to have it working and make it more user friendly second.
I am slowly adding functionality to the MyTeam website – the team editor should be working better now. Personal information is being restricted to the individual – except for email addresses, which are being restricted to the team captains and managers. Cheryl and I have some better tools for checking out the online team lists for Premier League and Business League, and the draw is now showing as a page not a pdf – even on mobiles.
There is a draw editor that had to be made to put the draw up on the website. There is also a payment system to process all the online and cash payments – it just isn’t hooked up to the front page as yet. Next up will be the electronic scoring, and then updating MyTeam to show your next match when you login – which should be particularly useful for our School teams.
There is a notification system in the works to send you an email the day before your match – maybe even txt messages if we can find a cheap provider. I haven’t forgotten about online payments – but the goal of this system is to mainly to stop me from having to type in 300 registration forms by hand and process 24 match results including 48 team lists every week… so the electronic scoring comes first.
