We are down to our final 12 matches for the year!
Unfortunately I won’t be able to be there on Tuesday – Leanne and Amy will be looking after it all while I am away. You can get in contact with Leanne at [email protected] or on 0432 183 044 .
The format for each Division will be the Bronze Medal match followed by the Gold Medal match, with the Bronze Medal Winners doing duty for the Gold Medal match.
There is 1 exception to this format – The Women’s B Reserve Gold Medal match will be played first at 4:40pm so the St Joey’s Girls can make it to their awards night on Tuesday. This will affect Jules Red, Jules Silver and Hawks 9 Girls.
Match Length
All matches this week are time limited, best of 5 sets – which is the same as every week.
Men’s A Grade & Women’s A Grade Bronze medal matches however will run for a maximum of 90 minutes. The first senior match will start at 6:40pm and the 2nd match will be scheduled to start at the regular time of 7:50pm. The Gold medal match is untimed.
Player Eligibility
Players must have played 3 games to be eligible for finals. Playing ineligible players will result in a forfeit. During the regular season I am more willing to allow exceptions to avoid forfeits, this is not the case during finals. If you are not sure then you need to check before taking the court.
Please remember that most of the referee’s on the stand are not International level referee’s – they’re the same ones that have been doing the job all season – I don’t expect them to suddenly become experts and neither should you.
Presentation Night (Xmas Party)
Our presentation night is on Friday the 16th of November. Trophies for Senior divisions will be presented on the night. It is being held at the South Toowoomba Bowls Club – 331 Hume Street. Be there from 6:30pm, dinner will start at 7:00pm.
Tickets are available for $20 each and should be purchased before the night – see Leanne to purchase them.
Weather permitting! there will be bowling after dinner, so wear something you can bowl in.
If you want to pay online, please do so before Wednesday.
Salvos Hamper
Every year we put together a hamper for the Salvos which Cheryl has looked after longer than I have been involved in TVA. In recent years we haven’t made this quite the priority that we used to. I know everyone has a constant stream of organisations and people asking for money. We are asking for something simpler – have a quick look in your pantry and find some non-perishable goods – you know those cans at the back that you bought when you were shopping hungry but haven’t used them yet! Bring them along this week or next and we will donate them to the Salvos to help out families doing it hard at this time of year. We will also take your money and put that towards the donations as well.
We don’t want that can of tomato soup that expired last century!
Good Luck to everyone!
The draw hasn’t changed from last week.
Semi Finals Format
1st plays 4th, 2nd plays 3rd.
Winning teams play off for the Gold medal the following week. Losing teams play off for Bronze.
For the remaining positions, 5th will play 6th, and 7th will play 8th this week. These teams will not play on the finals night – only medal matches will be played on that night.
There are a couple of teams that are in last place in a division with an odd number of teams, unfortunately they are now finished for the year.
Match Length
ALL matches this week are time limited, best of 5 sets – which is the same as every week.
Mens A Grade & Women’s A Grade however will run for a maximum of 90 minutes. The first senior match will start at 6:40pm and the 2nd match will be scheduled to start at the regular time of 7:50pm. The 2nd match is scheduled to start earlier than the 90 minutes in case the first game finishes early. The latest time that the 2nd match may start is at 8:30pm and the very latest it can finish is at 10:10pm.
This format will be used for senior bronze medal matches during the following week – but A Grade Gold Medal matches will be untimed.
