Congratulations to The Walking Bread for taking out the annual Clash of the Titans trophy.
It was a very high standard of competition this year, even higher than the pile of strapping tape that was used on the final day trying to hold everyone together. As expected, people were throwing themselves all over the place today, which I’m sure they’re all going to regret tomorrow – but it made for some amazing volleyball! Some of it was filmed by WIN news – so keep an eye out for it… here’s hoping those very colourful shorts made the cut!
Runners up for A Grade were the Bouncing Bear‘s and the bronze medallist’s were Team Sandpit.
Congratulations to DAVS who took out the gold medal for B Grade, literally spilling blood to take the gold. They narrowly beat Hot Chocolate for the gold and The Hippy’s took out the Bronze medal for B Grade.
We loved the themed team uniforms from The Walking Bread, and no the theme wasn’t about zombies – it was about… bread… brilliant. The bird names for Wing’n It were great as were the very colourful The Hippy’s. Thank you to those teams for making the extra effort.
Thanks very much to all the teams who travelled to be part of the tournament – we hope you all get home safely and we hope we will see you again next year. A special shout out to the Monsoons from Townsville for travelling over a thousand kilometers – it was great to see you back yet again.
A final thank you to “The Hippy’s” for helping to clean up the gym afterwards – that was very much appreciated.
Wow. Just wow. That was some amazing volleyball today. I don’t remember a day at Clash with that level of competition before, certainly not across more than a dozen teams.
Thanks to everyone for the awesome attitude today – some seriously competitive volleyball and hardly a voice raised in anger all day, that was just fantastic.
There are going to be some tired and sore bodies tomorrow – I bet everyone started the day thinking they would take it nice and easy this early in the season… and ended up throwing themselves all over the floor at every chance they got – it certainly looked like that.
Result for the day are published below.
I forgot to put the scoring method up on the web page – so I’ve put them below as well.
Win – 10 points
Loss – 6 points
Draw – 8 points
The 3rd set only counts as a set once you reach 13 points – with a 2 point lead at the finish. So 14-13 will still count as a draw.
If the total competition points are equal at the end of the pool games, then we use a sets ratio (sets won / sets played).
If the sets ratio is equal then a points ratio will be used.
In the unlikely event that the points ratio is equal then it will come down to some method of random chance that will leave one team upset with me.
