Apologies for not getting the draw out earlier – I completely forgot that Monday was a public holiday.
Hopefully you have all seen the post on facebook about the upcoming referee’s course on the 20th of May.
It will run from 8:30am until 4:00pm. You will need some water and suitable attire to play some volleyball in.
To attend, simply let me know at [email protected] before Wednesday the 16th.
Just a quick post – the draw is up.
Our AGM has a new date – 6pm on Sunday the 20th of May.
We will be holding a Referee’s Course on the the same day – Sunday the 20th of May.
We recommend that everyone should do this course – particularly newer players that are just starting out – this will give them a lot of knowledge of the games rules as well as confidence up on the referee’s stand.
More details on both of these events will be posted soon.
Round 5 Draw (v2) Updated @ Monday 10am
Toowoomba Grammar has had to forfeit it’s senior matches, so the draw has had to change.
Mens A grade, and A Reserve have had several changes, so you will need to check the draw carefully.
Please note that we have had to schedule a Men’s A Reserve match in the Green gym – which will involve a duty team as well, so please check the draw carefully. I know the roof in the Green gym is a bit low for a lot of the players in this division, but I didn’t see any viable alternatives for 1 match. CHSHS 12 – you have the duty in there after your game.
I have done up the draw for the rest of the season, managing to balance duty matches and byes pretty evenly across all of the divisions. They will be put up on the website this week.
Speaking of the website, I am expecting to make some updates this week – thanks for your patience with this process. Electronic scoring, results and standings as well as invoicing is all being worked on, so it’s not a simple job.
Duty Teams
During the first few weeks of the season we had some issues with duty teams, particularly having to chase teams to find someone to run the warm up according to the protocol, which is available on every score bench.
A lot of teams have to organise buses and taxi’s to pick them up at the end of their games, so it is important that we not only keep to time, but we make the most of that time as well – there is only an hour for the warm up and game time. At the moment teams are not making very good use of the warm up period as players are not ready to go when the previous match is finished.
While we don’t need the whole team to be available for the warm up, we do need at least one person to run the warm up – starting from the end of the last match.
We would appreciate it if you could all make an extra effort to to make sure someone is running the protocol correctly. It would be great if we didn’t have to remind anyone this week!
Round 4 is on next week – the 27th of March – hopefully no-one is unable to make it due to the incorrect date on the draw that went online last week.
We are missing quite a few teams as a couple of the schools are unavailable this week.
We will return for Round 5 after a 3 week break, on the 24th of April.
Toowoomba had a large number of players in the Aces Tournament held last weekend with teams from Titans and USQ participating.
The Titans came away with 2 Gold medals which most of you may have seen on facebook already. It was even in the paper during the week, which was great to see.
Here is the draw for the rest of the season.
Business League Season 1 Draw 2018
An easier to read draw for Round 2 is also available.
Hopefully there are no errors but if captains could check their own draw and duties that would be great. Let me know if you find any errors. Most of the time you have a duty every second week but you may get 2 in a row so check carefully each week.
Cheers
Cheryl
