Season 1 – Finals Draw

Congratulations to those teams that have made it through to the medal matches. Medal presentations for the Junior matches will be held in the Yellow gym after the junior Gold medal matches have finished at 6:40pm. Presentations for the remaining divisions will be made following their Gold medal matches.
All matches, every week, are best of 5 sets – limited by time.
The exception for this week only, is for the Gold medal matches for A Grade Men and Women which will be untimed.
The A Grade Bronze Medal matches will start at 6:40pm and run for a maximum of 90 minutes. The A Grade Gold Medal match will be scheduled to start at 8:00pm, in case the Bronze medal match finishes inside 90 minutes.
All other matches will be the usual 60 minutes.
Player Eligibility
Players must have played 3 games to be eligible for finals. Playing ineligible players will result in a forfeit. During the regular season I am more willing to allow exceptions to avoid forfeits, this is not the case during finals. If you are not sure then you need to check with me before taking the court.
Missing Balls
During this season we have had at least 12 volleyballs go missing.  If you have ball bags for Tuesday night, can you please check their contents and make sure any TVA balls are returned this week.
Round 1 for Grand Prix
Our Titans are playing in the first round of the Grand Prix which is at home this week.  The games will be played at Downlands over the weekend, so head over to see some great volleyball being played!

Round 9 draw

I have added the link to this weeks draw, but I am hoping that people noticed that the Premier League site was updated last week with the remaining regular Rounds – but just in case I thought I would make sure by sending it out as well.
The draws are listed here – Premier League Draw – which is the bit I’m not sure everyone realised.
I had a productive weekend on the website – the results of which will go live soon – I’m just doing some testing to try and work out why the team lists were being duplicated before putting the changes online.
QAS Trials
A reminder that QAS trials are on tonight (Monday) and again next Monday night.  We can’t emphasise enough just what a great opportunity this is for our players to get exposure to high level coaches.

Round 8 Draw
The remaining rounds are up on the website now – if you saw it today, then you will notice it’s been fixed up now!
Work has been very busy lately, so I am still behind on all the admin work, and isn’t letting up just yet as I will be away all next week. Leanne and Amy will be running Tuesday night while I’m away. I’m sure that everyone will continue to make our job easier by running duties properly. We really appreciate that everyone has made an extra effort the last few weeks.
Business League players, you are seeing this as well as I catch up on a few upcoming events.
Pink Night
Toowoomba Volleyball Association will once again be holding a Pink Sports Nights to raise funds for breast cancer. It will be held on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday the 16th May.
Players are encouraged to dress in pink (Tues night players must wear their numbered uniform shirts though) and donate a gold coin. There will be tins around on scoring desks to put this in. School students who donate a coin get a raffle ticket for an afternoon at Inflatable World. (Teachers/Coaches should count the number and collect the tickets with names and school on them).
We will also be running a sausage sizzle from 5.30pm on the Tuesday night and 6.30pm on the Wednesday night so don’t worry about cooking tea that night. There will be a 100 Board (win $100) and a raffle with prizes donated from Spotted Cow, Irish Club, Hog’s Breath Cafe, Aromatouch Massage and more.
Join in the fun and help raise money for such a great cause. Sports all around Australia are doing likewise so let’s put volleyball up there too!
Referee’s Course
The referee’s course is coming up fast – on the 20th of May – we need to have your nominations in by next Wednesday – simply contact me at [email protected] to let me know you will be attending.  If schools would like an invoice, you must let me know before the day.  We would appreciate it if you could deposit the $30 into our account. Bank details are at the bottom of our fees page.
Annual General Meeting
Our AGM is also on the 20th of May – starting at 6:00pm.  The meeting won’t take long and we would love to see some new faces there.
Titans Trials for Grand Prix
There will not be Titans training this Sunday – rather there will be open trial’s held next Monday night (14th May).
Everyone is welcome to attend – this year we are able to nominate multiple teams so we are hoping to see a big crowd there.
Dates for the Grand Prix rounds are on the front page of the website.
QAS Trials
Hopefully you have seen the flyer regarding the QAS trials coming up on the 21st and 28th of May.
If selected in the trials, players will be training on Monday nights – coached by QLD level coaches who will be travelling up from Brisbane each week.  This is a fantastic opportunity for our region – please download the flyer for more information.

Hopefully you have all seen the post on facebook about the upcoming referee’s course on the 20th of May.

Round 6 Draw

Just a quick post  – the draw is up.

Our AGM has a new date – 6pm on Sunday the 20th of May.

We will be holding a Referee’s Course on the the same day – Sunday the 20th of May.

We recommend that everyone should do this course – particularly newer players that are just starting out – this will give them a lot of knowledge of the games rules as well as confidence up on the referee’s stand.

More details on both of these events will be posted soon.

Premier League Draw for Round 05 – updated

Round 5 Draw (v2)  Updated @ Monday 10am

Toowoomba Grammar has had to forfeit it’s senior matches, so the draw has had to change.

Mens A grade, and A Reserve have had several changes, so you will need to check the draw carefully.

Please note that we have had to schedule a Men’s A Reserve match in the Green gym – which will involve a duty team as well, so please check the draw carefully.  I know the roof in the Green gym is a bit low for a lot of the players in this division, but I didn’t see any viable alternatives for 1 match.  CHSHS 12 – you have the duty in there after your game.

I have done up the draw for the rest of the season, managing to balance duty matches and byes pretty evenly across all of the divisions.  They will be put up on the website this week.

Speaking of the website, I am expecting to make some updates this week – thanks for your patience with this process.  Electronic scoring, results and standings as well as invoicing is all being worked on, so it’s not a simple job.

Duty Teams

During the first few weeks of the season we had some issues with duty teams, particularly having to chase teams to find someone to run the warm up according to the protocol, which is available on every score bench.

A lot of teams have to organise buses and taxi’s to pick them up at the end of their games, so it is important that we not only keep to time, but we make the most of that time as well – there is only an hour for the warm up and game time.  At the moment teams are not making very good use of the warm up period as players are not ready to go when the previous match is finished.

While we don’t need the whole team to be available for the warm up, we do need at least one person to run the warm up – starting from the end of the last match.

We would appreciate it if you could all make an extra effort to to make sure someone is running the protocol correctly.  It would be great if we didn’t have to remind anyone this week!

Premier League Draw for Round 04

Round 4 Draw

Round 4 is on next week –  the 27th of March – hopefully no-one is unable to make it due to the incorrect date on the draw that went online last week.

We are missing quite a few teams as a couple of the schools are unavailable this week.

We will return for Round 5 after a 3 week break, on the 24th of April.

Aces Tournament

Toowoomba had a large number of players in the Aces Tournament held last weekend with teams from Titans and USQ participating.
The Titans came away with 2 Gold  medals which most of you may have seen on facebook already. It was even in the paper during the week, which was great to see.

Round 3 Draw (v3)

Version 3
Small change for Hurricanes and Gryphon’s Gold.
Version 2
Welcome to Joeys (from St Joseph’s) who have joined Men’s A Reserve Grade – as a result there are quite a few changes to the Men’s A Reserve Grade draw. Hurricanes no longer have a bye and there is a game in the Blue gym for that division.
We have quite a few teams not available during the next 2 weeks before the break, so check the draw carefully.
Last week a bag belonging to Downlands was taken accidentally – it had volleyball and bibs with numbers in it and they are really hoping it can be returned.  If anyone knows what happened to it can they please get in touch.
There are still quite a few teams that haven’t had players added to them online in the MyTeam system: St Ursulas, COCT, CLC, and TGS if you’re having trouble can you let me know please.
Every team should have uniforms with numbers on them.
The draw for Round 4 has been done as well as I am away over the next couple of weekends, so if you haven’t told me you are not available now would be time to do so.

Here is the draw for the rest of the season.

Business League Season 1 Draw 2018

An easier to read draw for Round 2 is also available.

Round 2 Draw

Hopefully there are no errors but if captains could check their own draw and duties that would be great. Let me know if you find any errors. Most of the time you have a duty every second week but you may get 2 in a row so check carefully each week.

Cheers
