Welcome everyone, to Season 2!
For the last couple of weeks the MyTeam website has only been accepting new Team nominations.
During that time, the player’s nominating the teams added players and email addresses to the team lists – so if you haven’t seen your team yet, then your email address hasn’t been entered onto the team list yet. This week, I will switch it back over to the ‘In Season’ mode so you can Join an existing team. This will work better next season – one of those teething issues where you realise you didn’t think ahead to what happens when we start a new season!
We have 2 new rule changes (which will be updated on the website soon)
- We are allowing Juniors who have been selected to play for Qld to play in the Senior competition as well. This is simple for the Women’s competition who play at different times, but for the Men’s competition, the match times overlap, so it’s a touch more complex. Basically the Junior team gets precedence at all times.
- Sets will not commence if there is 5 minutes or less remaining on the clock. I would hope common sense would prevail if there is 5:30 left.
Check the draw carefully as there are a few duties that are on different courts.
We have lost a couple of Women’s A Grade teams due to several of our players being selected in the Pirates squad. Unfortunately they train on Tuesday and Thursday nights which has affected our A Grade competition quite significantly. We are trying to put together another team – if you were unsure if A Grade was going to work for you, now is a great time to have a go.
The same goes for our Junior Men as we only have 3 teams there again as well.
Please checkout the website for Rules, Fees, etc. myTeam.org.au
Musters are on the 31st of July, starting at 7:00pm until around 8:30pm.
Before you can nominate a team you will need to sign up and register on the MyTeam page of the website.
If your friends are looking to play – get them to sign up and register so they can look for a team as well.
If you want to play on both nights, please make 2 submissions, changing the competition in which you want to play each time you submit your nomination.
When you nominate a team, we are asking for the email addresses of all the players in the team (not for school teams) – something we weren’t very good at last season. The email address is very important as we will use it to be able to contact everyone, but also to be able to tell the difference between people with the same name – which is very important when we’re sorting out payments!
You can add the email addresses after nominating the team, so please nominate first, but be aware we will be chasing these up.
Both Leagues will be 13 weeks long – 11 weeks of regular rounds with 2 weeks of finals which will finish up on the 13th of November.
There will be a 2 week break during the season – if schools could check out the Draws page to make sure the break lines up with their school holidays that would be great.
Fees have not changed for this season – if you played in first season, you won’t have to pay the VQ Registration fee again this season.
You will see on the Fees page that there are discounts for paying early, and penalties for paying late as well.
The Contact Us form in the footer of the page is the best way to get in touch with us.
Well done to all our teams last week. There were some closely contested semis and a few surprise results.
I have done the draw for next week and have just changed the order of two B grade playoffs on ct 5 so that no-one is doing duty that did it last week.
MashUps will do a duty on ct 3 though and Mixed Nuts on Ct 5 so please take note of this.
I am hoping all finalists will wear some resemblance to a uniform as we would like to put up some photos online. There were a couple of teams last week that were just a multitude of colours and styles with no common theme at all. Next season I am thinking I will give bonus points to teams in full uniform in an attempt to encourage all teams to make the effort.
Here is the draw:
CT 1 7pm Passed Out v Beard of Bees (Volleybrawlers) A Bronze
8pm Volleybrawlers v Neo Tokyo walruses (Beard of Bees) B Bronze
CT 2 7pm Diggy Balls v Synergy (Spikos) B Gold
8pm Rolling Thunder v Spikos (Synergy) A Gold
CT 3 7pm Smackin’ Aces v Excel Achievers (Spike Tyson) C Bronze
8pm Spike Tyson v Mixed Nuts (MashUps) C Gold
CT 4 7pm Sharks v Ooska (I’d Hit That) 5/6 A playoff

CT 6 7pm Neo Tokyo Weedles v Mighty Heights (Soggy Biscuits) 5/6 C Playoff
8pm Soggy Biscuits v Sugar & Spike (Neo/T Weedles) 7/8 C Playoff
There are no matches on ct 7 as the 9/10 playoffs in A & B grade were played last week.
Please hang around for the trophy presentations after the 8pm games finish. We will try to get games started early so we can start this before 9pm but it does depend on teams being ready on time, and my refs being there too.
Good luck everyone

Apologies for not getting the draw out earlier – I completely forgot that Monday was a public holiday.
Hopefully you have all seen the post on facebook about the upcoming referee’s course on the 20th of May.
It will run from 8:30am until 4:00pm. You will need some water and suitable attire to play some volleyball in.
To attend, simply let me know at [email protected] before Wednesday the 16th.
Just a quick post – the draw is up.
Our AGM has a new date – 6pm on Sunday the 20th of May.
We will be holding a Referee’s Course on the the same day – Sunday the 20th of May.
We recommend that everyone should do this course – particularly newer players that are just starting out – this will give them a lot of knowledge of the games rules as well as confidence up on the referee’s stand.
More details on both of these events will be posted soon.
Round 5 Draw (v2) Updated @ Monday 10am
Toowoomba Grammar has had to forfeit it’s senior matches, so the draw has had to change.
Mens A grade, and A Reserve have had several changes, so you will need to check the draw carefully.
Please note that we have had to schedule a Men’s A Reserve match in the Green gym – which will involve a duty team as well, so please check the draw carefully. I know the roof in the Green gym is a bit low for a lot of the players in this division, but I didn’t see any viable alternatives for 1 match. CHSHS 12 – you have the duty in there after your game.
I have done up the draw for the rest of the season, managing to balance duty matches and byes pretty evenly across all of the divisions. They will be put up on the website this week.
Speaking of the website, I am expecting to make some updates this week – thanks for your patience with this process. Electronic scoring, results and standings as well as invoicing is all being worked on, so it’s not a simple job.
During the first few weeks of the season we had some issues with duty teams, particularly having to chase teams to find someone to run the warm up according to the protocol, which is available on every score bench.
A lot of teams have to organise buses and taxi’s to pick them up at the end of their games, so it is important that we not only keep to time, but we make the most of that time as well – there is only an hour for the warm up and game time. At the moment teams are not making very good use of the warm up period as players are not ready to go when the previous match is finished.
While we don’t need the whole team to be available for the warm up, we do need at least one person to run the warm up – starting from the end of the last match.
We would appreciate it if you could all make an extra effort to to make sure someone is running the protocol correctly. It would be great if we didn’t have to remind anyone this week!
