Each year TVA hosts a Education Weekend during Term 1, where we run the Level 2 Referee Course and
the Level 2 Coaching Course.

Referee Information

Level 1 Referee Course - ONLINE
The online VA Level 1 Referee Course is designed to provide a foundational understanding of volleyball refereeing, including basic rules, signaling and match protocols. A Level 1 Referee Accreditation is the minimum requirement for officiating at a variety of competitions around Australia, and is an important steppingstone for those looking to reach higher levels of Accreditation.
Price: $55.00
Pre-requisites: Participants must be turning at least 12 years old in the year the Accreditation starts.
Includes: Nationally recognised Level 1 Accreditation and certificate.

Level 2 Referee Course - FACE-TO-FACE
This face-to-face, half day (4hrs) refereeing course is designed to provide volleyball enthusiasts with a deeper understanding of refereeing. Volleyball Queensland can organise an in-person Level 2 Referee Course for your group, club, school, or community group. This course contains the theory component of a Level 2 upgrade. A minimum of ten participants is required for this course.
To register for the Level 2 referee course, applicants must use their account on the VA Accreditation Portal. All applicants who have a Level 1 accreditation will have an account. If you are having problems signing in or accessing your account, please contact education@vq.org.au.
Price: $80.00
Prerequisites:

Participants must have a current Volleyball Australia Level 1 Referee Accreditation.

Participants must be turning at least 14 years old during the year the Accreditation starts.

Participants must be a current member of Volleyball Queensland.

Prior to undertaking this course, all participants will need to complete the Australian Sports Commission – Community Officiating Essential Skills Course.

Level 1 Coaching Course - ONLINE
The online VA Level 1 Coach Course is designed to provide foundational knowledge in a range of volleyball coaching concepts and skills. It is targeted towards those engaged in coaching at local junior club and school-team level, as well as primary school (Spikezone) programs. A Level 1 Coaching Accreditation is the minimum requirement for coaches at certain competitions throughout Australia and is an important steppingstone for those looking to reach higher levels of Accreditation.
Price: $55.00
Pre-requisites: Participants must be turning at least 14 years old in the year the Accreditation starts.
Includes: Nationally recognised Level 1 Accreditation and certificate.

Level 2 Coaching Course - FACE-TO-FACE
The Volleyball Australia Level 2 Associate Course is designed to provide volleyball enthusiasts with a deeper understanding of volleyball coaching principles and practice. The program is delivered face-to-face and generally conducted over one full day. This course contains both theory and practical components, a minimum of ten participants is required for this course.

Prior to attending the course, Level 2 Associate Course coaches are to:

Level 3 Coaching Course - FACE-TO-FACE
This three day face-to-face coaching course is the highest coaching qualification available through VQ and refines previously developed skills. Participants must hold a current Level 2 coaching accreditation and have completed the Intermediate Coaching General Principles which will cost $150.

Pre-requisites: Participants must be a current Volleyball Australia Level 2 Coach
Includes: Nationally recognised Level 3 accreditation, certificate, and Advanced Coaching Manual

FAQ's
How old do I have to be do become a Level 1 Referee or Coach?
Referee's must be turning 12 in the year they apply and Coach's must be turning 14 in the year they apply.​

How can I increase my refereeing skills?
We have opportunities available in our Mixed League competition during the year and GPS season in Term 1. There are also various opportunities in Volleyball Qld Competitions.

Are their Coaching opportunities in Toowoomba?
There are a number of schools looking for coaches in Toowoomba and we use a number of coaches for our Titans program each year.
